Editing Modem Drivers

Q: I am running MicroPhone II 4.0.2 and am having a problem figuring out how to edit modem drivers. I upgraded from 4.0 and all of a sudden, it doesn't seem to be working now. Please help.

A: MicroPhone II 4.0.2 introduces a change in the way modem drivers are edited. When you bring up the Script Manager and change the script type popup menu to show modem scripts, instead of giving you a list of scripts for the currently installed modem driver, you see nothing. This is because you can now edit any modem driver you want, not just the currently installed one.
To edit a driver, bring up the Script Manager, change the script type popup menu to show modem scripts, and go to the File menu and choose Open Modem Driver.
New Icons for the Icon Bar

Q: How do I add icons to the collection of icons included with MicroPhone? I know that Iconographically Yours allows me to add new icons, but how do I add ones of my own creation?

A: The best way to do this is by using a resource editor such as ResEdit from Apple. This utility allows you to edit and create many different types of resources including icons that are used in MicroPhone's icon bar. If you are not familiar with ResEdit, there are many good books on ResEdit, so you might visit your local bookstore and see what's available. The important thing to remember with MicroPhone icons is, you must have a cicn and a corresponding ICN# resource. Otherwise, the icon will not show up in the icon selector.
Received File, Where Art Thou?

Q: Whenever I receive a file automatically with ZMODEM, I never know where it's going to be put. Is there some way to tell MicroPhone to put files in a certain location?

A: Under the Transfer menu is an option called Select Receive Folder. This allows you to set the folder where all received files will be stored. It is saved as part of the settings in a document, so you need to be sure you save your settings document if you change the receive folder.
